ALA Governance Institute
You can sign up for the ALA Governance Institute (AGI) when you register for LibLearnX―there is no separate registration process. Participation in the AGI is open to the first 200 LLX registrants who sign up.
Whether you’re currently engaged in association governance as an ALA Councilor, an ALA board member, or as part of another organization, or whether you want to learn more as you plan your career and leadership development, the new ALA Governance Institute will provide invaluable insights into critical issues related to effective governance, with a focus on communications and financial analysis, review, and stewardship.
Offering the leadership and professional development skills needed for impactful leadership and effective decision-making, the AGI is inspired by the recognition that association leaders and prospective leaders face increasingly complex leadership situations and high expectations for responsiveness to a wide range of constituents and stakeholders.
The AGI runs 8:00am-12:00pm, Friday, January 27, 2023. AGI attendees will have a choice of up to two, 90-minute sessions*:
- Effective Communication for Governance Meetings (for ALA Council and Committee leaders and interested LLX registrants)
- Financial Analysis and Review for ALA Member Leaders (required for ALA Executive Board Members and offered to ALA Council and Committee leaders and interested LLX registrants).
Seasoned ALA leaders, staff, and other subject matter experts will serve as institute faculty.
